How did you get started with chain mail?

I’ve always been quite interested in the medieval time period and decided to take up a hobby related to that interest. It is difficult to start out with plate metals, so chain mail was much easier and the logical place to start.

Is it called chainmail, chain mail, chain maille, or mail?

It is chain mail for the finished product. Maille is the individual ring that goes into making the entire suit of armor. Technically, it should be called mail, but most people associate that with the mail man. If you’re a mail man who needs some mail to protect you from those nasty dogs, I’ll happily make you a suit!

How long did it take you to learn how to do chain mail?

It took me a very long afternoon to learn the easiest pattern, the European 4-in-1. I taught myself by searching for online tutorials and studying their patterns. After two weeks, I finally figured out the Persian 3-in-1. Now, I am making my own patterns after two years.

Will you make something for me?

Yes; however, I don’t do it for free! Details can be found on the custom orders page.

How durable is chain mail jewelry?

Depending on what kind of metal and ring size is used, the jewelry could be strong enough to wear into battle or could be bent or broken if enough intentional force is applied. If something I make breaks from normal use, just send it back and I will repair it at no cost.

Where do you get your supplies?

Pre-made rings can be bought online at various sites. At one point, I may start making my own rings, but I am currently more concerned with making the mail itself.
