Inhabitants of Dinotopia are all descended from shipwrecked sailors who have chanced upon the uncharted island.
This peaceful landscape offers a view of Bilgewater, a village constructed from shipwrecks that have been dragged
in from shore and tipped up on end. As a child, James Gurney loved sailing and imagined what it would be like to
live in a house made from an old vessel.
